Julian A. Torres, M.D. joined Leonia Medical Associates in 2014. He completed his medical school at Universidad del Valle in Cali, Colombia. From there he joined CIDEIM, a prestigious non-profit research center that is focused on tropical and infectious diseases. He published several articles in international journals and attended conferences to present his works on bacterial resistance to antibiotics. He came to the United States to complete his training in Internal Medicine at Jacobi Medical Center/Albert Einstein School of Medicine in the Bronx, New York. Dr. Torres also specialized in infectious diseases and completed his fellowship in infectious diseases at New York University in Manhattan, New York. There he did research on inflammatory markers for infections in solid organ transplant recipients and cancer patients and presented his results in national conferences. Dr. Torres has an interest in the treatment of bacterial infections, the mechanisms of resistance to antibiotics and the strategies to prevent this emerging problem. He is also interested in the management of patients with HIV and the infections associated with this condition. He enjoys educating students and residents at Englewood Hospital, where he spends part of his time seeing hospitalized patients with infectious diseases.
